Fran's Sugar Cookie Recipe
1 cup butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 large egg
3 cups flour
Preheat oven to 400°. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar
with electric mixer. Beat in egg and vanilla. Sift baking powder with
flour.
Add flour mixture, 1 cup at a time, mixing well after each addition.
The dough will be very stiff. Blend in the last of the flour by hand.
Do not chill dough before using. Bake 6-10 minutes or until cookies
are lightly browned. Remove cookies to cooling grid to cool completely.

1 cup powdered (icing) sugar
1 tablespoon light corn syrup
2 tablespoons water
Stir ingredients together well. If desired, flavor and color with icing
color. Stir often during use to prevent a mottled look on the cookie.
To use, brush onto cookie with a pastry brush and let dry for at least
one hour before decoration. Or pipe a dam of icing to hold in the glaze.
Keep glaze covered at all times when not in use.
