Cookie Ornaments –
1 can (4 oz.) ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon ground cloves
1 tablespoon nutmeg
¾ cup applesauce
2 tablespoon white glue
Combine cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg in a bowl, stirring by hand. Add
applesauce and glue and stir to combine. Work mixture with hands for
2 to 3 minutes, or until dough is smooth and ingredients are thoroughly
mixed. Divide into four pieces. Roll each piece ¼ inch thick
and cut out shapes using cookie cutters. Do not roll too thin, or the
ornaments will curl, rather than dry flat. Use a straw to poke a hole
in the top of each. Allow to dry at room temperature on wire racks for
several days until completely dry. Thread a ribbon through the hole
and tie to make a loop. Makes about 32 ornaments.
